Best All Time College Baseball World Series

The 2008 College World Series was the most outstanding CWS of all time. Reason? The Champion was a huge underdog, the Fresno State Bulldogs. Fresno State's Tommy Mendoca was declared as Most Outstanding Player in the tournament.

The 2008 College World Series was a highly anticipated event that was held between June 14 and June 25 2008 in Omaha, Nebraska. This was the 62nd series for CWS. Fresno State was the lowest ranked team ever that won the National Championship title in any sport. Tommy Mendoca, who was a sophomore at that time and playing as 3rd baseman, was named the Most Outstanding Player of the series. During the series, Mendoca hit 4 home runs and had 11 RBI’s.

The 8 schools in the 2008 CWS were Stanford of Pac-10 with head coach Mark Marques, North Carolina of ACC with head coach Mike Fox, Florida State of ACC with head coach Mike Martin, Georgia of SEC with head coach David Perno, Miami of ACC with head coach Jim Morris, Rice of C-USA with head coach Wayne Graham, Louisiana State of SEC with head coach Paul Mainieri and Fresno State of WAC with head coach Mike Batesole.

In the first round, Georgia beat Miami, Stanford beat Florida State, Miami beat Florida State, Fresno State beat Rice, N. Carolina beat LSU and LSU beat Rice. In the second round, Georgia beats Stanford, Stanford beat Miami, Fresno State beat North Carolina, and North Carolina beat LSU. In the semifinals, Georgia beat Stanford and Fresno State beat North Carolina. In the finals, it was Georgia Bulldogs versus the Fresno State Bulldogs and the latter won the title. The most notable CWS record was the winning of Fresno State. The games were shown on ESPN except on June 22.

There's nothing more exciting in sports than an underdog winning it all. That was certainly what happened with Fresno State in 2008. So, we pick the 2008 College World Series as the top CWS of in the history of college baseball.
